Anthropology

The MIT Anthropology Program introduces students to the field of cultural anthropology and to the world seen in anthropological perspective. The Program's offerings span a broad range of time and space, from ancient societies known from history and prehistory, to traditional tribal and peasant cultures, to contemporary urban, industrial society. They include subjects like medical anthropology, drugs and culture, and technology in cultural context, as well as witchcraft and magic, world religions, and the culture and history of Mexico, native North America, and other regions of the world.
